4 Ways Feminist Woman Achieve Their Goals

I define feminist woman in this article as woman who know what they want and willing to do anything to achieve their goals. As a feminist, woman should know what she wants and she know what is worth for her or not. To achieve what is worth, they always used various strategy to get what they want.

As we know, women are often associated with feminine traits, and men are associated with masculine traits. Masculine traits always relate with strong, ambitious, and domination. That kind of traits often seen as incompatible with women. Women who have masculine characteristics often get negative stigma. Don’t underestimate the power of women. Women can get what they want by utilizing their feminine and masculine sides. Here’s how feminist women reach their goals:

1) Femme Fatale

The concept of the femme fatale emerged in the early 20th century. Femme Fatale is a concept that represents female villains with erotic, sexy, and seductive images. The image of the femme fatale makes women only seen from their sexuality and not the strength that they have. Be careful with women who use femme fatale way. Femme Fatale way often causes suffering for men who are associated with it. Well, men easy to seduce and women can use it.

Not many people see that there’s potential power when women use the femme fatale way to achieve their goals. Those who achieve their desires by means of the femme fatale, use masculinity and femininity as a strategy of resistance and against gender inequality.

We can see this method used by Cersei Lannister in the film series Games of Thrones. Cersei’s character as a woman who achieves her goals is very prominent. She has an important position as a woman who has dominance and leadership over men. Cersei manipulates men using their sexual organs. She also break the stereotype that women are useless in a state of war. She put herself in the highest position in war. Cersei used the value of objectification of women such as facial beauty, beautiful clothes, and sexual attraction as a weapon to achieve what she wants. Maybe you wanna try it?

2) Classy Sassy

Unlike the way femme fatale uses the value of objectification of women to fight inequality, classy sassy shows how to against patriarchy in a classy and more 'girly' way. The classy sassy way uses the feminine side of women who are known to be gentle, graceful, empathetic and calm to achieve goals.

This method was used by Eugeunia ‘Skeeter’ in the film The Help. Although born into a priviledge family, Skeeter uses what she has to eliminate racial discrimination between blacks and whites. Skeeter show an elegant and classy way to against the discrimination by writing and utilizing connections.
Skeeter is a white girl who recently graduated from university and works as a writer in The Jackson Journal. The Jackson Journal is one of the famous newspapers in America. Working as a writer for a newspaper is an opportunity for Skeeter to express her thoughts.

She also wrote stories about the lives of black skin people who lived as servants and helpers for whiteskin people. She brave to expossed how black skin people life under the discriminate law which forbid to expossed about black skin people. Not only writing about racism that happened, Skeeter also opposed the social construction that limit her as a woman. She also brave to fought with her family and friends who did discrimination and limit her as a woman.

Skeeter is also part of white female socialite members. The socialite community has a racist view of black or African-American ethnic groups and also sexism. Skeeter’s social circle brought her into important connection like aristocrats. She also has a friend who is the formulator of the bill. Then she used her priviledge to eradicate racism.

3) Collective action

Are you familiar with the movements of Femen, Gulabi Gang, SlutWalk, Womens March and Pussyriot? Yes, that kind of examples of the collective action of feminist women to achieve their goals. Some people said ‘That kind of actions will draining your energy and waste your time!’. No. Nothing useless in this world even their collective action. Their collective action is a part of global civil society that have much possibility to bring revolution.

This method proved successful against the inbalances that occur like a collective action of feminist women. The women unite to gather their masculine side to fight the injustice that occurs.
For example, Gulabi Gang. Gulabi gang is an association of women who carry bamboo as their guns to attack perpetrators of domestic violence and sexual violence in India. Besides Gulabi Gang, there is also SlutWalk. The SlutWalk action first appeared in Canada because of a statement by the Chief of police in Toronto who did victim blaming and slut shaming. SlutWalk movement received attention from Canadian government and pressured the government to make policies that are pro gender equality. As a result, Canada guarantees security for women who go home at night and even the country is dubbed as the most woman-friendly country.

This collective action method is also used by Harley Quinn in the film Birds of Prey. After she is broken heart and break up with Joker, she move on. She gathered with the women fighters to achieve his goals and did not want to be associated again with the Joker. Maybe you can try what Harley Quinn did when your ex broke your heart.

4) The drama queen

The term drama is also associated with ‘bad’ stigma like sensitive, jealousy, weak, easy to cry and possessive. These stigmas are often attached to women. Is there something wrong with sensitive women, drama, jealousy, easy to cry even possessive? No. Are they too naive and innocent? No. Not many people are aware that there is power behind their attitudes. Women who use these methods to achieve what they want, it's easy to manipulate the situation. Easy for them to manipulates men’s feelings. For me, they are dodgy. They use the negative stigma for women as a weapon to reach their goals. In fact, not many men are aware that their emotions are tricked in this 'drama queen' way.

The drama queen way was used by Josephine Chesterfield in the film The Hustle. She deceive old nobles to obey her orders. She uses the weak side of women who defined by social constructs such as sensitive, easy to cry and drama to trick old nobles and reach her goals to be rich. Still underestimates sensitive women? Then you should think twice.
